Gear - Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you’re hiring or buying gear, make sure you take the time to try on a few different options until you find something that’s just right for you.
ALL Snow Pass and Season Pass Holders, participants in snowsports school and gear rental customers are subject to the Hotham Release of Liability Agreement. Please read the Release of Liability Agreement before purchasing a product.
There are different options on offer:
We stock a wide selection of equipment for skiers, snowboardes and for snowplay.
There are some items you won’t be able to rent due to hygienic reasons, such as goggles, gloves and beanies. Check out our shops for a great selection of stylish options that suit your budget.
Most importantly is the right clothing – You need clothing that keeps you warm and dry. A great way to dress in the snow is the ‘Onion-method’ - Dress in layers to trap warm air and it gives you the flexibility for changing conditions, plus a waterproof outer layer on top to keep you dry. Pack the warmest, most waterproof gear you own.
The right equipment can mean the difference between a great day on the slopes and a frustrating one. You don’t need to buy your own gear, but it is important that you ensure the equipment you hire is the perfect fit for you.

Finding the right boot for you is essential for your perfect ski day. One of our friendly boot fitters will measure your foot, so they can assure that your boots fit properly.
How to check if your boot fits:
Wear a pair of good quality ski socks, not cotton, as they pull the moisture away from your feet which helps to avoid blisters. Make sure you cut your toe nails too, this limits any rubbing. When you are doing your boots up, make sure you have nothing inside the boot but your socks. Things like pant liners, thermals, anklets etc should be folded to the top or on the outside of the boots.
