With the medium-range forecast showing more snow for the second half of August, and our massively upgraded snowmaking system now coming into its own on some of our favourite terrain, this September looks like being yet another great month of skiing and snowboarding up here. And it’s certainly the right time to grab a bargain, with great deals on accommodation, lift passes, lessons and equipment hire packages, learn to ski and snowboard programs, and more.
If you need any more convincing, read below… Otherwise call us now on 1800 HOTHAM to take advantage of HUGE savings on peak season accommodation rates on select properties from 4 September, combined with half-price lift passes, group lessons and equipment hire. But hurry, the best properties are filling up fast on September weekends.
Everything the holiday brochures always say about September skiing is true: the longer days, warmer weather, ‘more forgiving’ snow, uncrowded slopes, great deals on lift passes, rentals and accommodation, afternoons spent in the sun on the deck with your family or your friends, taking in the rays (within reason), and shootin’ the breeze… all true!
However, those spring skiing clichés often undersell the quality and quantity of the snow itself. Many of the best days of skiing and riding in any Australian season are in September. And year after year, Hotham turns it on in Spring, when we reap the rewards of months of accumulated snowfall and snow-making, and lap it up on the most spectacular slopes in Australia.
There’s usually more snow in September than July!
We do most of our snowmaking early in the season to build a base for natural snowfalls and to open up as much terrain as early as possible. Then, as the season progresses, Mother Nature tends to take the lead and our natural base is usually at its deepest in late August or early September, with plenty of snow and great skiing deep into September and even early October.
